Everything about copper alloy sourcing, Western certification, pricing and delivery. 铜合金采购、西方认证、定价及交货的常见问题。
iPhone USB-C connectors and AI memory module contacts primarily use C7035 (CuNi3Si1Mg) — a Corson alloy combining high strength (~700 MPa) with good electrical conductivity (~45% IACS). The critical differentiator is ultra-thin gauge: 0.05–0.06mm strip. Bobon Copper is one of very few global suppliers able to consistently source C7035 at this specification, from Dowa (Japan) using their proprietary Texture Control (TC) rolling process.
For Nvidia AI memory modules, the grade used is AD-442 — Dowa's own designation for a related Corson alloy optimised for high-density connector contacts.
C7035 is optimised for maximum strength-to-conductivity ratio at very thin gauges (0.05mm+). It is the premium choice for precision electronics connectors where both high springback force and reliable electrical contact are critical. Applications: AI connectors, smartphone components, memory module leads.
NB109 (C19025 equivalent) is optimised for high conductivity and stress relaxation resistance at higher current loads. It is the preferred alloy for power tool battery terminals, EV charging connectors and industrial switches where sustained current-carrying capacity matters more than ultra-thin gauge. Conductivity: ~65% IACS vs ~45% for C7035.
C17200 beryllium copper is the standard material for oil & gas downhole tools because it is non-sparking, non-magnetic and achieves steel-like hardness (up to 42 HRC) while maintaining copper's excellent thermal and electrical conductivity. Key applications: drill collars, MWD/LWD sensor housings, wellhead valve bodies, non-sparking hand tools used in refineries and LNG facilities (ATEX Zone 1/2 compliant per IEC 60079).
The critical requirement for Chinese oilfield OEMs is Western mill certification — Saudi Aramco SAES, ADNOC and Shell specifications require C17200 sourced from Materion (USA), NGK Berylco (Europe) or IBC Advanced Alloys (Canada). Bobon Copper supplies these certified grades with full material test reports.
Niclafor® 1000 from Lebronze Alloys (France) is the leading beryllium-free substitute for C17200 in aerospace applications. It is a spinodally hardened CuNi9Sn6 alloy achieving >1,000 MPa tensile strength — comparable to C17200 — while being fully RoHS and REACH compliant. It is Airbus-qualified and widely used for aerospace connectors, EMI fingerstock and test probes where beryllium regulations are a concern.
Niclafor® is supplied with Lebronze French mill certificates — recognised by Airbus, Boeing Tier-2 supply chains and European aerospace OEMs.
YCuT-FX is Dowa's (Japan) proprietary copper-titanium alloy produced using their unique Texture Control process. It achieves 900–1,100 MPa tensile strength — higher than C7035 — while maintaining sufficient conductivity for semiconductor test socket contacts and high-temperature aerospace connectors.
China has no domestic producer at this quality level. Dowa themselves have stated that the manufacturing technology for copper-titanium alloys is extremely difficult and has not yet achieved cost-effectiveness domestically. This makes YCuT-FX one of the few remaining genuinely irreplaceable Japanese alloys for Chinese semiconductor and aerospace manufacturers.
When Chinese manufacturers supply to Western oil & gas operators (Aramco, ADNOC, Shell), aerospace primes (Airbus, Boeing) or defence contractors, those end customers conduct material traceability audits. They require proof that the alloy was produced by a recognised Western mill — not just that it meets the chemical specification.
A Chinese-produced C17200 may be metallurgically equivalent, but an Aramco auditor will not accept it without a certificate from Materion, NGK Berylco or IBC Advanced Alloys. Bobon Copper sources from these Western mills and provides the complete documentation chain: mill certificate, certificate of analysis, material test report and third-party inspection reports.
Standard documentation included with every order: Material Test Report (MTR) with chemical composition, tensile strength, hardness and elongation; Certificate of Analysis (CoA); Certificate of Conformance; dimensional inspection report; commercial invoice; packing list; certificate of origin; and HS code guidance.
On request (additional cost): Western mill original certificate (Materion, NGK Berylco, Lebronze, Lamineries Matthey); third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek; ATEX/IEC 60079 non-sparking compliance data for C17200; RoHS 3 and REACH declarations.
LME copper prices fluctuate daily. Our live prices page shows indicative daily LME prices for copper, aluminium, zinc, nickel, tin and lead — updated in real time via our price feed.
For alloy-specific pricing (C7035, C17200 BeCu, NB109, NAB etc.), contact us directly — alloy premiums vary significantly by grade, form, temper, quantity and certification requirements. Western mill origin typically carries a 15–25% premium over standard grade.
Minimum order quantities depend on the alloy and form. For common in-stock grades (C7035 strip, C17200 rod, C70600 tube, C51100 strip): 500kg minimum. For specialist Western mill grades (Niclafor®, NAB UK origin, Materion BeCu): 200–500kg for trial/qualification orders.
We specifically bridge the gap between Western mills (which typically require 5–20 tonne MOQ) and Chinese manufacturers who need smaller trial quantities for new programme qualification. This is one of our core service advantages.
Yes. We have established logistics to all major manufacturing zones:
Vietnam: Bắc Ninh (Samsung supply chain), Bình Dương, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi. We handle Chinese export documentation and coordinate with local Vietnamese import agents.
Mexico: Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana and Querétaro manufacturing clusters. We handle export from China and can provide DDP or DAP delivery.
India: Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai industrial zones. Growing capability as Indian defence and aerospace programmes expand.
In-stock grades (C7035, C17200, C70600, C51100, C19400, NB109): 3–7 business days ex-Shenzhen.
Western mill certified grades (Materion BeCu, Niclafor®, NAB UK origin, STOL 94 Matthey): 3–6 weeks depending on the mill's production schedule. We maintain buffer stock on the most common grades.
Custom dimensions or special tempers: 4–8 weeks.
TC/RC (Treatment Charge / Refining Charge) are fees that copper smelters charge miners to process copper concentrate into refined copper. TC is paid per dry metric tonne (dmt) of concentrate; RC per pound of copper produced. They are negotiated annually between major miners and the China Smelters Purchase Team (CSPT).
Currently near historic lows (~$20–25/dmt TC), reflecting tight concentrate supply globally. Low TC/RC squeezes smelter margins but does not directly affect alloy prices — alloy premiums are driven by fabrication costs, alloy element prices (beryllium, nickel, tin) and Western mill capacity, not LME copper alone.
